Maintaining a website is an on-going task that can have significant consequences if overlooked. A number of elements that make up the design and build of a website require attention if the site is to maintain a strong performance for both users and search engines alike.
All WordPress CMS websites are built on a WordPress theme and augmented by a range of plugins used to deliver specific website functionality such as ecommerce, online bookings or members’ areas. The version of WordPress itself is frequently updated so all themes and plugins need to keep up-to-date with this latest version.
In addition, it’s good practice (and something to which I always adhere) to use a website security system to monitor potential hacking attacks and identify vulnerabilities. Such security systems require continual scrutiny.
Longer term neglect of a website can lead to it no longer functioning or delivering any content and recovering a website from this position can be time-consuming and costly.
